The metamorphic table was made as a one-of-a-kind show-piece for the Skyword Showroom in Shanghai. The abstract shapes of the furniture give it an almost sculptural feeling. The piece has been described as "a mad man's work", being cut out from a single block of onyx.
The table is made from one of nature’s most astonishing materials, and the intention is to showcase the greatness of the onyx stone. The story of the millions of years it took for the earth to produce this beautiful stone is told, with the help of the impressive craftsmanship it took to cut the amorphous shape using CNC technology.
