A chance to re-live the legendary NASA Nightclub

For many of us, going to clubs is a casual habit at some point in our lives. We go there to celebrate, to fall in love, to forget, to show off with our (non) existing dance skills. Yet, do we realize how much the design of the clubs has to do with our experiences? How has the culture of designing clubs evolved since its debut?

Designmuseum Danmark gets 2020 rolling with an exhibition inviting the public to explore the journey of designing club culture from 1960 until nowadays.
´Night Fever – Designing Club Culture 1960 - Today´, is a fervent exhibition about designing club culture to unveil with the public how clubs and discotheques shaped the best nights of our lives.

A white club is an extremely bad idea.
But NASA succeeded at giving people a space where they were free to just be.
— says Johannes Torpe today with a big smile about his design

As a part of the exhibition, the legendary nightclub of Copenhagen, NASA will be brought back to the public as an installation. Designed by Johannes Torpe, the inspiration for the unique design of the nightclub came primarily from Stanley Kubrick´s A Space Odyssey movie. Drawing on the inspiration from the movie, the spacey mood is most evident in the entirely white interior. NASA has left its mark on the Danish nightclub and global interior design scene, making it an iconic experience not to be missed.

Come to the exhibition´s opening event to hear more about the design of NASA from Johannes Torpe & party with us!
